Morphettville Racecourse is home to Adelaide Racing and is host to Adelaide’s biggest racing events. Renamed Allan Scott Park in October 2005, Morphettville Racecourse is the centrepiece of Adelaide Racing during the Adelaide Cup Carnival.

Adelaide Racing is not exclusively held at Morphettville Racecourse. Two other city tracks are also used, namely Cheltenham Racecourse, which is found just off Port Road, and an inner city track at Victoria Park Racecourse.

Adelaide Metropolitan Racing is conducted each Saturday with the one exception during the Easter long weekend when everyone heads to the famous hills course at Oakbank for the weekend.

The Adelaide Cup Carnival is the major race fixture on the Adelaide racing calendar with many interstate and local trainers setting their horses for the feature races held at Morphettville Racecourse.

The Adelaide Cup Carnival has now incorporated the Adelaide Magic Millions Sale as part of its promotion in an attempt to entice visitors who would otherwise head straight to Brisbane for their looming Brisbane Winter Carnival.

Many out of town racecourses such as Gawler, Murray Bridge and Strathalbyn are in relative close proximity to Adelaide and are often referred to as Adelaide races even though the courses are provincial tracks.
